Speaker Biographies

Joyce Foresman-Capuzzi, DNP, RN, CCNS, CCRN, CEN, CPEN, CPN, EMT-P SANE-A, FAEN

Joyce Foresman-Capuzzi is a clinical nurse educator at Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, PA. Joyce is an engaging speaker with expertise in a wide range of emergency nursing topics. She has experience speaking at local, state and national emergency nursing conferences. She will be sharing her knowledge of pediatric and adult topics with us.

T Michele Caliva, BSN, RN, MA, CSPI

T Michele Caliva is the Administrative Director of the Upstate NY, Poison Control Center at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse NY. She will provide us with an overview of intentional and accidental exposures that resulted in a call to the Poison Center in 2021. Included will be drug of abuse trends, pediatric exposures, calls related to social media challenges and intentional exposures related to suicide attempts.

Jonathan Green, DNP, RN, CEN, ENP-C

Jonathan Green is the Director of Nursing at the Montefiore Medical Center Weiler Emergency Department. Jonathan is an experienced emergency nurse and critical care nurse leader and educator who will update us on current trends in sepsis recognition and management and review the latest technologies that are available to support triage decisions at the point of care.

Ann Leonhardt-Caprio, DNP, RN, ANP-BC, FAHA

Ann Leonhardt Caprio is the Program Coordinator of the University of Rochester Comprehensive Stroke Center at Strong Memorial Hospital and Assistant Professor of Clinical Nursing at the University of Rochester. She will review the recent American Heart Association recommendations for the nursing care of ischemic stroke and review the medication Tenecteplase that is currently under investigation for use in stroke patients.

Benjamin “Benny” Marett, EdD MSN CEN CCRN NE-B FAEN, FAHA

Benny Marett is the Chief Nurse Executive at Emergency Care Consultants of the Carolinas. His emergency nursing career includes working in Education, Emergency Care, Occupational Health, Case Management and Nursing Research. Benny is a Past-President (2000) of ENA. He will reviewing the ECG P wave and its clinical significance and also exploring several 12+ lead ECGs with not so common findings.

Jean Proehl, MN, RN, CEN, CPEN, FAEN

Jean Proehl is an internationally known speaker and author in emergency and trauma nursing. She has been an emergency nurse since 1981 and an emergency clinical nurse specialist since 1985. Jean was ENA President in 1999. She will share some of her extensive knowledge and experiences with us as we explore these topics: Anaphylaxis, Fluid Resuscitation in Trauma, and SSS (Stroke, Sepsis and STEMI).

Amanda Roth, BSN, RN, CEN, TCRN, NYSAFE

Amanda is an Associate Clinical Professional Development Educator in the Emergency Department at Huntington Hospital. In her six years as an emergency nurse, her roles included: staff nurse, New York State Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner, assistant nurse manager, and clinical nurse educator. Amanda will speak to us about the Emergency Department RN’s role in the care of the sexual assault victim.

Jennifer is the 2022 ENA President and the Chief Nursing Officer at Southern Maine Healthcare. She will be updating us on issues and trends at National ENA for 2022
