Genesee Valley Chapter is located in the beautiful upstate area of New York with its most northern border on one of the great lakes, Ontario.
The Genesee Valley Chapter began its humble start as the very first chapter in New York State in 1974. ENA really started out as EDNA which meant Emergency Department Nurse Association and the name was later changed/ shorten to ENA what we know today as Emergency Nurses Association.
The Genesee Valley Chapter area had a group of very supportive surgeons, who encouraged the nurse’s to be a strong community. One of the founding “Father’s” Dr David Kluge from the Rochester area, A renown surgeon, recalls fondly the era of the “road runner”. The picture of the road runner was the first symbol that was trade marked as ENA.
Today, the ENA is indispensable to the global emergency nursing community.
The Emergency Nurses Association advocates for patient safety and excellence in emergency nursing practice. In order for the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) to fulfill its mission and to pursue its vision for the future, it must, like the members be flexible, dynamic and adaptable to the environment of professional practice.
